His Heart, My Desire

Loving Llfe While Striving For A Heart Like His

Challenge #2 – My Ideal Day

Today is Day #2 of the challenge by, The Brave Love Blog.

To be honest, I thought this would be the easiest writing prompt.  As, I thought on and off during the day yesterday about what my ideal day would be, I came up with several different scenarios.  I loved each one and they were all different.  So, which one do I choose to write about?  If I write about one of my ideal days, does that mean the other ones aren’t my ideal days now?  This was tougher than I thought!

I made a vow to love each day that I’m given and live it to the fullest.  Granted, I do have some days that seem wasted by just doing nothing.  There are days where I don’t want to see anyone or be around people.  Isn’t that sad?  Do you ever feel that way?  I hope I’m not the only one.  Then it seems once I get over that, I’m back in the game, ready for anything.

This is an example of my “ideal day.”

It all begins with my home!  I love home and I’ve spent a lifetime making my home a place of peace, rest, comfort and beauty.  At least I try.  I love cleaning, I know, strange, but I do.  I love that feeling of accomplishment and being on top of things, knowing what needs fixing, touching up, decorating, etc.  When my family or friends come for a visit, I love to make them feel at home.  This took me many years to get to that point as I had never felt comfortable having people in my home.  I have been around some pretty pretentious people in my life and I knew what they said about others, so I always had a feeling they thought that of me.  I then came to the conclusion,  I can only be who I am.  If what I am and have isn’t good enough, there isn’t anything I can do about it, so why worry.  That changed my world when I got that through my head.

My ideal day always involves beginning my day in quiet time with the Lord.  I read my Bible and spend time in prayer.  That is the perfect way to start my day.

Each day holds things to do and accomplish.  I don’t want a full schedule.  I get a bit flustered if I have a full schedule and just running from thing to thing.  I choose carefully what I do each day outside of my home.  I try to have a purpose for everything I do.

An ideal day would always include words of affirmation from those that I love. (even strangers) I have discovered that I thrive on affirmation.  I love getting notes, calls, emails and yes even flowers that say, I love you or I’m thinking of you, you are doing a good job!  I’ll take that over diamonds………maybe!  😉  You can say I love you, you are doing a good job with diamonds, right? Not too long ago, I received the sweetest surprise.  Someone wanted to look at our house because they were building a house and wanted some ideas, etc.  My husband and I walked them through our house and we visited for just a few minutes. The next day, I received a beautiful vase of purple tulips! I couldn’t believe it….now that is a sweet gesture.  I’m always amazed at people’s kindness.  I take notes and try to do the same….and….I fail many times….but, I’m still trying!

I like to end the day at home with my husband.  Going to dinner and then walking in the evenings is a perfect way to end the day for me. (throw in a Hallmark movie and I’m good)  My husband would say, having dinner at home and then walking.  I’m working on that one.  This is my ideal day, right?

When I lay my head on my pillow at night and close my eyes and tell God thank you for a beautiful day, I have comfort in knowing that everything I did, said and thought, only brought honor and glory to my Savior!

This would be a perfect ideal day for me!

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my thoughts;”  Psalm 139:23

I thought this would be the easiest day and then when I started writing it, I didn’t know which direction to take.

I enjoyed reading about your ideal day. Sounds like someone who loves to nurture others. Also, sounds very peaceful. I too like to be at home and if my plate is too full I feel overwhelmed, so try to pace myself a little. I agree with Katie – your front door is absolutely gorgeous. Would you mind if I add it to my Pinterest board about doors?
