Celebrating 10 Years of Blogging with a Fabulous Give-Away!

Happy 10 Year Blogiversary to my blog, His Heart, My Desire!

I can’t believe it has been 10 years since I began blogging.  It was May 2, 2007 when I hit the publish button on a free blogspot site. (I’ve now moved to WordPress…which is another story)  During this time I was  a wife, mom and Mimi and serving as Women’s Ministry Director and leading a Women’s Sunday School Class at my church.  I dabbled at writing since my first writer’s conference in 2004.   I also had a few magazine articles published and a couple of chapters in some compilation books.  I was working at trying to get a book written that has been on my heart forever!  But, with all the things going on, I put the book on the back burner.  When I say back burner….I mean waaaay back there!  I was even speaking at a few places here and there…which is crazy to think about.  Me….The extremely shy girl who failed her speech class in high school because she refused to give any more speeches after giving two speeches that just about put her in an early grave.  I’ll share that story someday soon.  It will be for all you shy girls and to let you know, it gets better and easier. (Did you notice now many I’s there were in that paragraph?  I tried to write it without those I’s, but it wouldn’t work…so bare with me)

All that to say….

Yay! For 10 years of blogging and I didn’t quit!  Trust me, I’ve thought about it.   I thought who cares what I have to say and share.  There are some amazing writers and bloggers out there and they are also 30 years younger than me and have so much more wisdom than I do at 58.  Yes, 58.  I just had my 58th birthday.  Wow!  I should be 38.  Well, how about 48.  Oh, well, like I said before, I’m going to embrace 58.  Notice how that rhymes just a little.

To celebrate, I’m going to do a give away!  Yes… I am!!!!  I’ve never wanted to do this before because I thought, “what if not one person tries to win my prize.  How embarrassing.”  That thought is not stopping me anymore!  I’m doing it and if no one registers.  That’s okay.  I’ll keep it all for myself because it is a basket of things that I love!  And, if you really know me, you know that I love everything!  It’s going to be a good one, trust me!

So, here is what you need to do to win!  Ready?

For each one that you do, puts your name in the drawing that many times!

Do love reading your blog though and always look forward to it. So glad it is going well for you and you are learning and growing all the time. That keeps us young!! Love you sweet friend!!! So glad we went to that writing conference oh so many years ago…. 🙂

    1. Hi Donna! Yes, I’m thankful that we were able to meet so many years ago at the writer’s conference. I have a feeling you are doing exactly what the Lord wants you to be doing right now, and that is, making quilts for all those little babies and special people that are going through difficult times. He is using you in a great way! Thank you for your words of encouragement!

      1. Thank you for your encouraging words as well. It means a lot coming from you. Love you sweet friend…. 💕💕💕

    1. You made me laugh, Teresa! Thank you for reading and you will be the first to know when I get a book done! haha I do hope it’s in your lifetime for sure. My sweet aunt that passed away not too long ago was always waiting and encouraging me on the book. I need to get busy, don’t I?

  5. Let me see– I’ve tried the bean lime chips and Bible journaling. I have two craft closets, but no way would I share pictures. Lol

  7. I remember back in high school when someone would just look at you would turn red with embarrassment. It has been very exciting to me watching how God took this shy young lady and turned you into a beautiful Woman of Grace, leader, author, teacher and speaker- just to name a few.

  9. Beverly, You are an incredibly talented woman. God has given you so many gifts to use for Him! Hope you continue to encourage and bless through your writing for many decades to come.

  10. Congratulations on your 10 years of blogging. I have thought of doing a blog but just haven’t taken that 1st step. I, like another commenter have Instagram and Twitter but never use them because I really don’t know how and I’m not sure I have the time to figure it out.
All the best to you in your next 10 years if blogging. God has already used you greatly in the love and encouragement you give to others in this mode of communicating and I know he has much more in store.

    1. Cher, thank you! And thank you for the sweet comments! I think you could do a blog, Twitter and Instagram! Because, if I can, you can. I’ll be sharing more this next week on some things that maybe will help some people get started. Again, thank you!

  11. Hi Beverly!

Although, I don’t do social media, I have always followed your blog- all 10 years!
It was a pleasure serving on your women’s ministry team for 5 years and you mentoring me as Women’s Ministry Director about 4 years ago. I am forever grateful for your help in paving the way and passing on a wonderful blueprint to follow. Although, I am no longer the director, you continue to bless me not only as mentor but as a dear friend that I will forever cherish.
I am so proud of you, your accomplishments, and the way you have allowed the Lord to use you.
    To God be the glory!
    Love you,
    Shelley M.

    1. Oh, Shelley! You have no idea how proud I am of you. I’m so thankful for that Wednesday evening during services and you sat right in front of me and I didn’t really know you, but I knew the Lord was whispering in my ear that you were the one to serve with in Women’s Ministry. How thankful I am that I didn’t go on my way thinking I was imagining it. The Lord set you right in front of me and I believe He said, “This is the girl! She has a heart for her Savior and wants to serve Him!” So exciting!!! I loved watching you as you went on to lead as women’s ministry director of your church when you moved away. You are an inspiration to many, especially me! I love you Shelley and you are such an amazing wife and mom! Always know that I am praying for you! I love you very much!
