Vacation Time!

I’m at our home in Oklahoma visiting our kids, playing with grandbabies and hopefully getting some writing done. Oklahoma is beautiful. It has been raining most everyday. I love rain, so it doesn’t bother me. Yesterday when I was heading home from some shopping I was driving very slow through a huge puddle of red muddy water. A car sped by and splashed my poor car. It was drenched in red mud! Not a very nice thing to do. I prayed for you, whoever you were!!! They have very good drainage here, unlike home, because I was looking for water…
Thirty Years?

I can’t believe it has been thirty years since highschool graduation. My friend Vicki and I went to the Midland High School reunion a couple of weeks ago. This was my first reunion. Vicki has been to all of them. She knew the ropes, so I went and followed her around. Vicki has the funniest sense of humor. She makes me laugh constantly. I went to school with her from 7th – 12th grade. I really didn’t know her in Jr. High. We met in 9th grade at church. Her Jr. High years were her favorite. Jr. High for me…
A Thankful Heart

While visiting with our little three year old granddaughter a couple of weeks ago, (did I mention how precious she was?) she was telling me about some girls she knows that have computers and she isn’t allowed to touch them. So we discussed that for awhile and then she said “Oh, Mimi, I have nice toys that God has blessed me with and I love playing with them. I’m grateful to God for all that He has given me.” She has a sweet mommy and daddy who have taught her well! I’m so thankful. 🙂

Our son Nathan has been talking about sky diving for some time now. He flew to Houston to visit his cousin last weekend who is engaged to a young man that is a sky diver and photographer. I knew the jump was planned for 2 p.m. on Friday. I was praying for him all day and especially at 2. 🙂 The good news is, he made it and is safe. The other news is……he loved it and plans to do more of it. :0 Really, Nate, I’m happy that you got to experience it and loved every minute of it….
No TV!

Well, today I decided I was going to do without television for one week. I always use my digital recorder to record programs that I like to watch. But, I have decided that I have really wasted a lot of my time watching programs that I could be doing other things. Some of my favorite programs are: Fox News (I’m a news fan)Martha StewartOprah (when she has a decent program)Herman and Sharon (they interview authors)Life Today (they interview authors, singers and speakers)Hallmark moviesHGTV (decorating programs)Food Network (Semi-homemade, Paula Deen, etc. etc.) What I can do in place of television viewing:…
Elegance

I saw an ad in a magazine and I loved the caption: Fashions change….but elegance never goes out of style. What does elegance mean? Polished; polite; refined; graceful; pleasing to good taste; as elegant manners. Having grace, beauty, and dignity; stylish. May we strive to be elegant and raise elegant daughters.
