We Are Going To Be Okay!

Hi Friends! It’s been awhile. So many things on my heart that I want to share with you and I struggle to not blurt everything out at once as to scare you off. So, I’m taking a deep breath…..breath in through the nose, counting to 6, slowly breathing out through the mouth and counting to 8. Sometimes holding it counting to 4 before breathing out. Trust me, I have learned that trick over the past year to calm my little self down and focus on what is in front of me. My biggest problem with the breathing exercise is I can never remember how many counts for each one. Okay, where was I? Oh….If you have kept up with my blog, then you know what my last year looked like. Never in a million years would I have thought that would happen! But, it did and Praise the Lord….I am so much better. I’m “me” again! Hopefully, that’s a good thing. I like to think I’m “me” again, but, much stronger and wiser. Who knew… I thought I was strong and wise before….surprises in my world as always! Can I tell you a quick little story….I know I’m on a rabbit trail…but, when I was at the tail end of my anxiety trial (I have no idea what to call it) I went to get my hair done. I didn’t want to go, but I knew it would make me feel better about myself. Yes, I cried on the way and I told the Lord, that I needed so badly to hear His voice somehow someway whether it be through someone or something. I told Him I need to hear that I would be strong again; strong mentally and physically. Well, anyway, when I got to the salon, the stylist, patted me and told me I was doing good and then she said, “You are going to be okay, you have always been a strong lady and you will be even stronger in no time!” You have no idea….I knew that was my answer from my Heavenly Father! I could tell you many more stories of ways I knew the Lord let me know He was right by my side and was using some amazing people to help me!

I’ve prayed about my blog for several months and was seriously thinking of stopping and forgetting about it. Which I had a few crying spells over it as I feel like it’s my baby as I began my blog over 10 years ago. I feel like it’s part of me. It’s grown with me and I have met some amazing people through blogging as well as interacted with some very special people! I haven’t had any peace about quitting, so, I’m hanging on. I often wonder what it would be like to be 80 years old and blogging away. Surely, I’ll give it up by then. We will see. I do have thoughts of “who wants to read the thoughts from a 61 year old?” Hold on while I do my breathing exercise again. Whew, 61….words leave me…I just don’t know how that happened. Through my ordeal this past year, I discovered I have some type of aging fears. I would say I’m probably 95% over it….but, that 5% pops up and tells me, your life is over, just go sit down and be quiet and wait until your time is up. Once I get a handle on that 5%, I realize that those are lies straight from the pit of H….E….double hockey sticks as my friend Shelby, always says. Since I was a young wife and mom and even a teen, I read after and listened to women who were in their 60’s and beyond that helped to show me the way through this crazy world of ours. How thankful I am for those women who answered the call to share their wisdom on being a woman after God’s own heart. I think of my sweet mom. She is 82 and going strong. She has always loved life and never sat around and complained about being older. That’s how I want to be.

In our social media culture, we see daily, amazing women who are in their 20’s and 30’s who seem to be doing it all….run a beautifully decorated home, make amazing wreaths for their front doors, organize their entire home in perfectly designed plastic containers, cook homemade meals, sew all their children’s clothes, put in a full garden of flowers, clean their house with homemade cleaning products, have date nights with their husbands and travel the world all the while taking amazing pictures of every detail and they look absolutely perfect. To be honest, I’m a bit glad that when I was raising my kiddos, homeschooling and supporting my husband in full time ministry all the while wondering if our budget was going to hold for the week, that I didn’t have social media to compare myself and my life to.

But, then on the other hand, how amazing is it that you can follow someone on various platforms of social media and be encouraged and inspired to be stronger and wiser as we strive to bring honor and glory to God in our daily lives.

I guess that is where I hope to come in. I so hope that my blog would somehow encourage and inspire you to be stronger and wiser and to let you know that you are not alone. You don’t have to be perfect in every situation of life and when hard times come….hopefully, you will hear me say, “you are going to be okay!” Those very words were a life saver for me this past year.

When I “went down for the count” last year, I made a call to a local natural health doctor. I honestly thought I was done for…..I thought my life was basically over. I was scared out of my mind. The lady who answered the phone had the most kind voice and she said, “Beverly, you are going to be okay, don’t worry.” When she said that I was going to be okay, a feeling of peace came over me and for the first time in a long time, I thought, “maybe I will be okay?”

So, all that to say, let’s get back to blogging and encouraging each other. We have a full life ahead of us regardless of our age. If you are breathing right now, you have a purpose. I learned so much this past year and I’m sure I will be sharing something each time I write, that was life changing for me in hopes that someone needs to hear it. If you don’t and you have life by the tail and all is well, hallelujah! I bet there is someone around you that needs to hear your secrets.

My blog is me. I don’t design it to reach millions of people. I don’t study all the stats; I don’t even know how to do that anyway. I don’t make money with my blog, so you won’t find pop ups and ads blinking everywhere. If I promote something, it’s because I believe in it and I’ll do my best to provide a link. Every once in a while, if I provide a link that is able to provide a compensation of some sort, I will donate that to a human trafficking organization that I love to support. (Operation Underground Rescue)

So, breath with me and let’s live life to the fullest….. together!

One last thing….I would be honored if you would subscribe to my blog as to not miss a post. I try to link on social media when I make a new post, but, you never know when I may take a hankering to get off of social media for a break now and then. All you do is go to the link on the right and fill out your name and email address. Each time I make a post it will pop up in your inbox. Also, if you think something I wrote would help someone, feel free to share my blog with someone. Oh, and I love comments, either in the comment section or you can private message me through the email provided. I love hearing how the Lord is working in your life through your daily living.

Remember……We are going to be okay….together!

Where Has She Been!?

What fun I’ve been having lately!  I’ve been getting so many notes asking where I’ve been and how much they’ve missed me!  NOT!  Well, maybe a couple.

Here is a re-cap of life since the first of the year, you know, when I made my list of goals to get more writing done and to get to my goal weight!  Yep, that one!

By the way, I’m fast approaching my 59th birthday and I am determined to get to my goal weight before I get out of my 50’s.  Surely, surely, surely….I can do that…..why can’t I get serious, I don’t know?  More on that later!

We just returned from a week on a Disney Cruise.  This was a cruise we planned just for us (my husband and I) and our two granddaughters.  They are growing up so fast and we were thinking of ways to spend some special time with them.  We came up with the idea of a cruise.Woohoo!!! We had so much fun and what a treat to have these two cuties to visit, play and see some beautiful sites with.   If you are wanting to spend special time with a grandchild…take them on a get away trip.  You will love it.  The entire week was so special, and one particular evening as we were getting ready for dinner, our youngest granddaughter got the giggles. She was  singing, dancing and couldn’t stop laughing.  It was actually comical after a while. Big sister caught the giggles, too.  We loved every second of our trip with those two.

A few weeks before our Disney Cruise we spent a week in Branson, MO.  If you know me, that is one of my favorite spots.  We took my mom and we enjoyed 3 days of a Southern Gospel Praisefest. If you enjoy Southern Gospel music, you might really enjoy the Praisefest.  The event was sold out with almost 3,oo0 people and we had great seats up front.  This was our fourth year to attend and we already have our tickets for next year.  Relaxing, shopping, shows and site seeing were on the list of to do’s for the week!

Throw in a couple of birthdays, traveling to the Hill Country several times to see our grandkiddos, a couple of concerts and a golf tournament, Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, a writer’s conference and here we are….no finished book and still at the very same weight!

Our next two big trips are to Canada and Hawaii.  I will tell you about those soon.

At the first of the year, I had so many plans to get more writing done.  I’ve even had a couple more book ideas.  Maybe when it slows down a little bit.

My biggest concern in the writing department is, and I’ve heard this for awhile, before a publisher/agent will even talk to you, they want to know how many followers you have on social media.  That is what stops me because I don’t push for people to follow me.  I don’t even pass out my business cards with my info on it like I’m supposed to.  I don’t feel comfortable doing that.  So, I’m going to start slowly and try to gain more followers.  How?  I don’t know.  I’ll start with this:  If you would like to follow me on my social media, just know that I do not share your address with anyone.  Matter of fact, I wouldn’t know how to do that, anyway. I am working on my schedule of postings and writings on the various social links.  I’ve listened to so many ideas of what other’s do and I’m trying to get my own style down.  What’s your style, Beverly?  I don’t know.  I’m just taking a stab at some different ways to see what works for me.  So, for my faithful readers, I hope you are patient with me.

If you would like to follow me on my various social media links….here they are. (This is my first push for gaining more followers.  I would be honored if you decided to follow me.)

You can subscribe to my blog.  The link is at the top of the page on the left.  Just fill in your email address and each time a new post comes out, it will go directly to your inbox.  You can unsubscribe at anytime.  I would love to have you as my blogging friend.

I heard someone say, Beverly, what do you write about anyway?  I’m so glad you asked.  My favorite thing to write about is anything that encourages others in their walk with Christ.  I believe we are here for a purpose and we can enjoy our journey and live our lives to the fullest all the while honoring our Heavenly Father in all that we do.

And what do I do?  Good question….

I love and do…..

The list goes on and on and on and on……I have to stop somewhere.

I like to tie all those things up and use them to glorify my Savior.  Oh, yes, I blow it many times, trust me..but, I get back up and start all over again when I do blow it!  I’m not perfect and never will be and I’m so thankful for God’s Grace in my life!

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

I Corinthians 10:31

So, there you go…that’s where I’ve been lately.

Thank you for being part of my blogging world…..and hopefully, social media world.

Until next time…

It’s Time To Be Quiet!

Happy New Year!  May the coming year be your best year ever!

How was your 2017?  Mine was wonderful.  I’ve been working on my photo albums and I found all the pictures from this past year and not only did it seem like just yesterday that I took the pictures, but, we got to see some beautiful places.  I loved all the family times from the past year, too.  Many memories were made.

Did you accomplish all those goals that you set in January of 2017?  I didn’t; I’ll just say that right away.  Matter of fact, I need to find my list so I can mark the things I did accomplish and work on those I didn’t.  This time of year, you hear so much about goals and resolutions.  You also will hear how some people don’t believe in setting goals and resolutions.  I never understood that.  I think we should always be striving to be better at who we are.  Matter of fact, we should strive to be more Christlike in our actions, our thoughts and our attitudes.  We will be talking about that this year on this blog.  I hope you will join me and together we can learn how to have a heart like His. I hope that is your desire.  It’s a good one to have.  I love what my  pastor said, “The only way to find out who God is and how He thinks, is to read His word; get to know Him.”

Do you choose a word for the year?  I have the last couple of years and I have had a verse going through my mind for the past few months and I have felt like the Holy Spirit was speaking to me about some things.  I will share with you some of those things in some upcoming blog posts.  I will say that the word I have chosen to be my word of the year is, Quiet.  There is so much to say about that little word. I look forward to sharing some things about the word Quiet with you soon.  I grew up very quiet and shy and I’m still pretty much that way now. This is a different kind of quiet.  For many years now, life has been going so fast and we have been busy.  We are in the midst of the “empty nest” years and trying to find my place of what I am to be busy doing or not doing has been a struggle for me.  In my quiet time, I have constantly heard a nudge to just be quiet.  Take time to listen and not worry about where I’m supposed to be, how I’m supposed to be and what I should and shouldn’t be doing.  I am to slow down….be quiet and listen.  I still have a very full and active life, but, it will be a bit different as I will be more quiet and listening to the voice of my Father.

Wouldn’t that be awesome to go away to a cabin for a few weeks and do nothing but spend time with God and just listen for His voice?  I won’t be doing that, but, I will be busy with my responsibilities and working on my goals that I have set for the coming year while listening more than I ever have.

I wanted to take a moment to thank you for being a reader of my blog, His Heart, My Desire.  My goal is to encourage you to live a life completely sold out for Christ.  We can still partake in all the fun things in life and still have a heart for the things of God.  If you are a regular reader, you may have noticed that I talk about  so many different things about home and family, travel, crafts, friends…it just goes on and on.   Sometimes, I have so much I want to say and I don’t want to hog a conversation with all MY thoughts…..hence….a blog.  I can talk and talk and I don’t have to worry if someone can hear me or if I’m interrupting someone.  You can just click out anytime you want and I won’t even know about it.  I’ll just be talking away as if the world is listening.   I’ve had so much fun with this blog and I have met some amazing friends through the blogging world.  I love  reading your comments and hearing your heart.

If you are new to His Heart, My Desire or you landed here be accident, I do hope you will come back for another visit soon.  I’m not a theologian by any means, (that is my husbands department.) I’m a simple girl who loves Jesus with all her heart and loves to encourage others to love Him too.

I’ve seen some crazy things in my 58 years and been through some pretty crummy things, too.  I’ve also seen and been through some very wonderful and amazing things.  I’ve seen the goodness  of people and I’ve seen the cruelty of people.  I know you have too, and I love sharing some of those things to let you know that it will all be okay even when you think it won’t.  I’ve had my heart hurt so deeply that I thought it was literally going to break in two.  That is why we need each other.  We need someone to say, “It’s going to be alright….you aren’t alone.  There is an answer even when you think there isn’t.”  I hope this blog will be something that will give you hope, encouragement and the confidence to be the best you possible and make a difference in our world.

May you have a wonderful 2018!

And The Winner Is……..

How fun this was!  My first giveaway on my blog!  After 10 years, it’s about time, isn’t it?!

If you don’t know about the drawing, you can read about it here.

Did you notice I said that I would do the drawing live?  Well, I am not able to do the live drawing plan.  In other words, I’m too chicken to do that!  I guess I’m not ready to do a live recording of myself talking away to a camera.  Maybe I will try that another time soon!

Here is another look at the giveaway.

I loved all of your sweet and kind comments.  I wish I had a gift basket for each one of you to show you how much I appreciate you reading and commenting on my blog.

I put each of your names on little slips of paper for each comment on the blog and all the follows that you did on my social media platforms.

I then put them all in this beautiful box that I have on my desk, closed the lid and shook it as hard as I could.

Congratulations Lauren Colby, you are the winner of the gift basket of goodies!  If you can contact me through email with your shipping address, I will get it to you.  I’m so excited for you!

Again, thank you all for your comments and for following along in this journey of blog land.

Celebrating 10 Years of Blogging with a Fabulous Give-Away!

Happy 10 Year Blogiversary to my blog, His Heart, My Desire!

I can’t believe it has been 10 years since I began blogging.  It was May 2, 2007 when I hit the publish button on a free blogspot site. (I’ve now moved to WordPress…which is another story)  During this time I was  a wife, mom and Mimi and serving as Women’s Ministry Director and leading a Women’s Sunday School Class at my church.  I dabbled at writing since my first writer’s conference in 2004.   I also had a few magazine articles published and a couple of chapters in some compilation books.  I was working at trying to get a book written that has been on my heart forever!  But, with all the things going on, I put the book on the back burner.  When I say back burner….I mean waaaay back there!  I was even speaking at a few places here and there…which is crazy to think about.  Me….The extremely shy girl who failed her speech class in high school because she refused to give any more speeches after giving two speeches that just about put her in an early grave.  I’ll share that story someday soon.  It will be for all you shy girls and to let you know, it gets better and easier. (Did you notice now many I’s there were in that paragraph?  I tried to write it without those I’s, but it wouldn’t work…so bare with me)

All that to say….

Yay! For 10 years of blogging and I didn’t quit!  Trust me, I’ve thought about it.   I thought who cares what I have to say and share.  There are some amazing writers and bloggers out there and they are also 30 years younger than me and have so much more wisdom than I do at 58.  Yes, 58.  I just had my 58th birthday.  Wow!  I should be 38.  Well, how about 48.  Oh, well, like I said before, I’m going to embrace 58.  Notice how that rhymes just a little.

To celebrate, I’m going to do a give away!  Yes… I am!!!!  I’ve never wanted to do this before because I thought, “what if not one person tries to win my prize.  How embarrassing.”  That thought is not stopping me anymore!  I’m doing it and if no one registers.  That’s okay.  I’ll keep it all for myself because it is a basket of things that I love!  And, if you really know me, you know that I love everything!  It’s going to be a good one, trust me!

So, here is what you need to do to win!  Ready?

For each one that you do, puts your name in the drawing that many times!

  1. Leave a comment on my blog at the end of this post.
  2. Subscribe to my blog.
  3. Share this post on your social media. Just copy and past the link for this post.  Or share my post from my Social Media…does that make sense.  I know, I sound so non-tech, but what can I say!  (Let me know how many social media shares you do.)
  4. Follow Me on Instagram.
  5. Follow Me on Twitter.
  6. Follow Me on Pinterest.
  7. Follow Me on Facebook

This will be so much fun!  I hope you win!

I will draw for the winner on July 27th at 8:00 p.m. CST live.  Did I just say live?  Yikes!  That’s four weeks from now, don’t procrastinate like I would.  Just do it all now and we will get this thing rolling!  Good luck!

Thank you to all my readers, subscribers and followers.  You inspire me to keep on writing, sharing and encouraging!  (I may have to title this post the “I” post!)

“I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” Philippians 1:3

My Tips On Unplugging Social Media!

Have you ever wanted to take a break from Social Media?

I may be able to help you with a couple of things since I recently decided to take the plunge and unplug.

With my Facebook, I deactivated.  You can deactivate and then you can reactivate with your username and password.  You can also just log out.  I chose to deactivate for a short time    I am using my time that I would have spent on Facebook to do other things that need to be taken care of.   When deactivating or logging out you need to let your friends know. The way Facebook works, not everyone will see your post about your checking out of Facebook for a while.  You may want to post that you are checking out and leave it up for a couple of days before you completely unplug.

I received an email from a dear friend who thought I had unfriended her.  I was heartbroken that she thought I would have done that to her. (*I have only unfriended three people the entire time I’ve been on Facebook and I regret doing so.  I unfriended one because they posted too many questionable things that I didn’t want to read. I since learned, that you can unfollow people if you don’t want to see their posts for various reasons.  The other two were for personal reasons and I really regret doing so now.)  Anyway, back to my friend who thought I unfriended her.  I assured her that it was not what she thought.  I’m glad she contacted me to see what happened.

I also decided to get off of Instagram.  This is where I messed up terribly!  I’ve had my Instagram since 2012.  Guess what I did?  I deactivated my Instagram instead of logging off.  I didn’t realize how important it was not to do that. I have now lost my account and I can’t get it back.  All my followers and those that I was following are gone.  Not only that, to set up a new account, I can’t use the name I had.  I had to set up a new Instagram account with a my blog name.  Remember this if you decide to take a break.

I love my Pinterest boards.  I’m able to really control my time on Pinterest.

I did delete my LinkedIn account due to it really isn’t a benefit for me.

I’m not on Twitter as of now.  A few years ago, I was on Twitter.  I really didn’t do anything with it.  When I served in women’s ministry, I had the honor of taking Lysa TerKeurst to dinner.  She made a post on her Twitter to follow me.  I gained some followers due to her tweet. I’m sure there are some that would realize how amazing that is to have Lysa TerKeurst  mention to her followers to follow you.  If you do, you also know how silly I feel to not have done something with that.  During that time I never really knew what to tweet, so I deleted my account. I know!!!  I sort of regret that today as well.  But what can I say?

The number of followers on your social media and blog are really looked at when submitting articles and book proposals to book publishers and magazines.  It’s very important to have a large following on all of your social media accounts. This is a bummer for someone like me who is not very good at promoting myself on social media.

Speaking of followers…..feel free to hop over and follow me on Facebook, Instagram,  Pinterest and of course, my blog.  I would be honored if you would and I hopefully will provide things that will inspire and encourage you each time I post.

NOW FOR SOME FUN NEWS!

Right before I “deleted” my Instagram account, I dowloaded the app called Chatbooks!  With this app you can have photo albums made with all of your pictures on your acct.  Each book holds 60 photos.  I had 11 books made and they just came in the mail today.  I just ordered them last week!  I  love my Chatbooks!  I would encourage you to download the app and have these cute photo albums made of all of your pictures on your Instagram.  I had so much fun sitting down and going through all of my pictures from the past 5 years.  Here is a link that you are welcome to use to get started.  Click here to find out more.  If you use this link, I just may get a discount on my next order. Is that exciting or what?  By the way, each book is only $8.00.  You can choose the hard or soft cover with your choice of photo.  I did the soft cover.  I’m wishing I would have chosen the hard cover. Maybe on my next set!   If you decided to do this, I hope you are as excited over your books when they come in the mail as I was!

MY 10 TIPS FOR SOCIAL MEDIA: (that I learned from experience)

  1.  Chose one or two platforms that work best for you.  Don’t think you have to be involved in all forms of social media.  You will probably find one that fits you and your lifestyle the best.
  2. If you find that social media is consuming way too much of your time, take a break and rethink how you are spending your time.  Set up a new plan and don’t hesitate to change it if you find it isn’t working.
  3. Don’t lose site of being social in person and not just online.
  4. Don’t spend your time checking your phone for updates while in the company of friends and family.  Have a time when alone to take care of your conversing with online friends.
  5. You control your time; don’t let social media control you.
  6. When you take a break from Facebook, you can log off or actually deactivate.  Just don’t lose your password!
  7. If you take a break from Instagram, DO NOT deactivate or you will lose everything.  Trust me!
  8. Use your social media to inspire, encourage and build up others.  You can make a difference in someones life with your kindness and positive outlook on life.  Don’t get caught up in arguing over controversial matters.  I think it’s sometimes a good thing to share difference of opinion, but if it turns to arguing and being hateful, that’s when it’s a bad thing.  In my eyes anyway!
  9. Don’t lose connectivity with those that are close to you thinking that the only way to  communicate is over social media.
  10. Make a plan to mail a note to someone through the mail. You know… the old fashioned way.  You can’t beat getting a heartfelt handwritten note from someone.

Thank You!

BlogHousekeeping!

Hi Friends!

I’m doing some “housekeeping” on my blog today.  A few updates and a few changes are always needed.

To all the readers of, His Heart, My Desire……THANK YOU!  I so love to hear feed back and my heart skips a beat when I get a message or a comment that something resonated with them in what I wrote.

If you haven’t noticed, I seem to LOVE everything.  Especially, if it sparkles!  I’m an avid magazine reader and I like to think of my blog as an uplifting, inspiring and encouraging magazine.

The Lord has shown me many things in my life.  He has brought me through some dark times and then His blessings have always amazed me.

I would like to take this opportunity to ask you something.  If you haven’t subscribed to my blog, I would be honored if you would subscribe today.  There is a little box to your right and all you need to do is enter your name and the email that you would like my latest blog post to show up.  For you, it makes it convenient to not miss anything and second, it builds my subscriber list.  I have found out that when publishers look at your proposed book idea, the first thing they look at is your followers and subscribers.  Isn’t that something?  How did authors do that before social media?  I guess times have changed as they say!

If you are on Facebook, I would love for you to follow my page for His Heart, My Desire.  Again, on the right hand side, there is a little sparkly button with the F on it and if you click that, it will take you straight to my page and you can hit LIKE!  Yay!

Thank You!

I am working on some freebies for my subscribers.  Hopefully, I will be announcing that very soon!  Hang with me!

Things coming up:

During September, I will be writing for Homeschool Moms along with my other posts that will cover anything from decorating, fashion, Bible Study, book reviews, life, empty nest, family…..you get the idea….I told you I love everything!

In October, I will focus on Women’s Ministry along with the before mentioned posts.

My mission is to glorify God in everything I do, say and write and I want to inspire you to love life and to stay strong and keep on going, even when it gets a bit tough.   Notice I didn’t say if it gets tough?  Because life is tough sometimes and not very pretty.  But, by the grace of God, we can carry on and think positive and accomplish great things in our lives.

Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a reader of, His Heart, My Desire!

I do hope you will be a subscriber and hop over to like my Facebook page!  Oh, did I mention Instagram?  Come on over there, too.  I mostly post pictures there that I hope will make your day brighter!  That button is to your right and is a little sparkly camera icon.  You can click that, it will take you to my Instagram and you can tap the follow button and we are instant Instagram friends!

If you are a subscriber, I hope you will stay, but I so understand if you have to bow out.  My heart will break a bit, but I so understand that we all have different situations going on, or you may be saying, “this girl is crazy, I think I will move on.”  Either way, I understand.

Have a FABULOUS Labor Day weekend!

Happy Blogiversary!

IMG_0764 (1)Nine years ago, I wrote my first blog post!  Well, it was really, nine years and one month ago.  But, who’s counting?

I began my blog, His Heart, My Desire, on a whim.  I had been writing some magazine articles and I was told that I needed some type of presence in social media.  So, I began with a blog.  I began writing and loved it!  I especially love the feedback from readers.  I’ve met some amazing friends through blogging.  There are so many talented people out there!

My goal in the blog world is to inspire and encourage people in whatever season they are in.  My even bigger goal is to be a light for Christ someway, somehow through my words and pictures.

When I served as a Women’s Ministry Leader in my church, I began a separate blog for that.  After I stepped down from serving in that capacity, I deleted that blog.  I also had one for Homeschool Moms, but, it was very time consuming for me to keep up with three blogs, so I deleted that one, too.

I now have the one blog and I love it!  Many times I will receive an email from someone to tell me that something I wrote inspired them and that makes me very happy!  It confirms that maybe something I say can make a difference.

All that to say, “Happy Blogversary!”  Nine years and counting.  When will I stop?  I don’t know.  I think the Lord will nudge me when it’s time to call it quits.  Although, I am now reading a book called, “5 Habits of a Woman Who Doesn’t Quit” by Nicki Koziarz.  I’ll be posting a review of it soon, so be on the lookout for that one.  Yes, I have a habit of quitting things when I don’t feel like things are just like I want it.  I have let the enemy deceive me too many times in thinking that what I do isn’t worth anything or that it is making a difference. He has been able to use people to discourage me and I took it to heart.  I’ve listened to that ugly voice more than I should.  No more!  I’m reading the book, so stand back!

Boy, am I digressing or what?  (I’ve wanted to use that word for a while, anyway.)

Thank you for being my blog friend by reading, commenting, sharing and encouraging.

An Angel for Bloggers?

If it were possible to have an angel for bloggers, Merri Dennis, would be that angel!

I met Merri last summer at the Declare Bloggers Conference.  We happened to be sitting at the same table and I notice that she was very proficient in the computer lingo.  It was language that I don’t understand very well, even though I’ve been blogging for 9 years.

A dear friend of mine, Rhodema Cargill who met Merri at the same time I did,  shared with me how she had called her to ask her a couple of questions and how helpful she was.  I put it in the back of my mind and each time I tried to spruce up my blog and I got deeper and deeper in realizing just how bad I was with all the language and codes, I kept thinking “call Merri!”

After honestly thinking of going back to Blogger or just deleting my blog, I thought, I will contact Merri and just see what she says.  She got right back with me over email and then we connected on the phone for a consultation.  After just a few minutes I was excited.  I was excited at how easy she was to talk to and she understood exactly what I was wanting to do to update my blog.

Long story short, after a few days, I have a blog that makes me happy to look at and work on.  I’m so glad I didn’t decide to give up.

Those that know me best, know that I love everything and I get sidetracked with all the possibilities in things I could do.  An example of how bad I am, is when I’m at the hair salon getting my hair done, I’m showing my stylist about 10 different hairstyles of what I like and want to try.  This is not a very good trait to have by the way.

If you need an angel, you must contact Merri today!  I have a feeling you won’t be sorry!  I love her spirit and her honesty.

Go to her site and see all that she offers.  You will be amazed at all the help she has just on her website!
